Case Writing Scholarships for Research Students
Ten scholarships, to be known as the Philip Law Case Writing Scholarships, are to be available each year from the European Case Clearing House (ECCH), a registered charity based at Cranfield University UK. Worth 500 each, they are intended to encourage both the authorship of new case teaching material in management subjects and the development of new authors.
The scholarships target graduate/postgraduate students and have a key objective. They are to provide encouragement for students to transform and develop scholarly research (with limited circulation) into a more widely adoptable case study of practical management teaching application. Expected to have particular interest will be students who aspire to an academic career in a management field or a related subject.
Applicants must be affiliated to an institution which holds membership of the ECCH and the case must be written under the supervision of a member of the institution's teaching faculty. A free placement, worth 95, in an ECCH case writing workshop will be provided early in an individual's programme. Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year and will be held for the next assessment date, namely the last day of March, June or November.
Jeffrey A. Gray, Director of the ECCH commented: "The Philip Law Case Writing Scholarships are a positive encouragement to new case authors who, it is hoped, will accept the challenge to continue writing effective case teaching material into the future. This is an opportunity to share important and interesting work widely and to achieve recognition through its publication. The ECCH is honoured to be able to associate the scholarships with the late Philip Law. Professor Law taught for many years at the London Business School in virtually every management programme. He was a talented and enthusiastic case teacher and served on the Executive Committee of the ECCH. We feel he would be pleased to be associated with the ideals of the scholarships".
