Professor Rao is currently Professor of Marketing,
College of Administrative Sciences, Kuwait University Kuwait. During
1993-97 he was Eminent Scholar and William B. Spong Chair, Old Dominion
University, Norfolk, Virginia, USA. 1988-93 he was University Professor and
Wal-Mart Lecturer in Strategic Marketing, University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA. He also served on the faculty of the Indian
Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India (1968-70).
He participated in the ICAME program at Stanford University (1963-64). He obtained his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA (1968). He was awarded life time C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) by the National Association of Purchasing Management, USA in 1993. Dr. Rao received numerous awards and recognitions. He was awarded Faculty Research Award for the College of Business and Public Administration, Old Dominion University, 1994-95 and he was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Research Award by the College of Business Administration, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, in 1978, 1984, 1986 and 1988. He was also awarded many research grants and received other academic recognitions. In 1991 he was selected as Senior Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science. He was USIA Visiting Scholar in India (1991-92). Dr. Rao is a frequent contributor to various academic and professional journals including: Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Columbia Journal of World Business, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, Industrial Marketing Management, International Marketing Review, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Health Care Marketing, International Journal of Management, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Market Research Society (England). His case research studies appeared in several leading texts in marketing and management. Dr. Rao serves as a member of editorial boards of several academic journals in marketing, international marketing and health care marketing areas. Dr. Rao has been an active member of several professional organizations and held elected leadership roles in the Academy of Marketing Science and Academy of International Business. Dr. Rao held many visiting faculty positions in Nigeria, India, Singapore, Norway, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Peru and the Netherlands. |
