WACRA® conferences strive to pro-mote the development of new teaching-learning methodologies in an international, intercultural, interdisciplinary environment. Meeting the hosts of each year's inter-national conference and learning about the culture and national heritage of the host country are important ingredients of the success of WACRA® conferences. A three day post-conference tour - "In the footsteps of the Conquistadors and the Route of the Jerte Valley followed by visit to medieval Toledo - will provide such an opportunity.

The double blind review process is expected to be substantially completed by the time you will receive this NEWSletter. Final, revised copies of the papers accepted (both for presentation and publication) are due at WACRA® on/or before March 25, 1999 accompanied by conference registration and payment. For manuscript preparation and presenter guidelines refer to the end of any WACRA® book, visit our web site or contact WACRA®.

Most international airlines and many hotels nowadays follow a model of reassessing their 'inventory of unsold space' continuously. As bookings increase, the inventory declines and... the prices increase. In simple terms: to avoid paying the procrastinator's premium, don't wait making your airline and hotel arrangements. Availability of space and price move in inverse directions: the price moves up, while the availability of seats decreases. WACRA® has reserved blocks of rooms at several hotels. July and August are high season in Europe. Hotel rooms sell out early. Many hotels are already fully booked. Rooms are available to WACRA® conference delegates at special rates at these hotels (refer to details on page 2 and our web site). The Hotels will hold the blocks of reserved rooms only until March 25, 1999 - if the supply lasts that long. Transportation from the conference hotel'V Centenario to the conference center San Francisco and back will be provided for conference delegates in the morning and evening. The Colegio Mayor is located in the heart of the old part of town where buses cannot enter. The walk to the conference center is about 15 minutes (through cobblestone streets). Make your reservations now directly with WACRA for the Colegio Mayor or directly with the other conference Hotels and ask for the WACRA® conference rate: Alert!!!!! Act Now!!!

Northwest/KLM has been appointed the official conference airline and is offering a discount of $60 - $150 on their published qualifying fares to conference attenders flying to Madrid, Spain or Lisbon, Portugal (details on p. 9). Cáceres is located about equal distance between the international airports of Madrid and Lisbon. WACRA® has also made arrangements with Renault Eurodrive for discounted car rentals. Dele-gates to the WACRA conferences in Scotland and France took advantage of the Renault offer and were, without exception, very satisfied with the value and service received. As the conference date approa-ches, visit WACRA® at its web site to learn about late breaking news: http://www.agecon.uga.edu/˜wacra/wacra.htm

From Jan. 6-8, 2000 WACRA® and A C T The Academy for Creative Teaching are hosting the Third "Creative Teaching" conference in Lucerne, Switzerland.
