| Dr.
R. Keith Martin was Professor of Information Systems & Operations
Management, and held the Stephen and Camille Schramm Chair in Business,
in the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University.
He was Dean of the School for eleven years, and during two of those years also was Acting
Dean of the University's Graduate School of Communication. Prior to becoming
Dean he was the School of Business' first Associate Dean and first Director
of its graduate program. His previous appointments include the faculties
of Baruch College of the City University of New York and the University
of Washington's School of Business; Price Waterhouse, where he was responsible
for the firm's consulting practice in computing and industrial engineering
throughout the Northwestern United States; IBM and its subsidiary, The
Service Bureau Corporation; and Campus Merchandising Bureau, Inc.
His current research deals with the cultural, management and technological issues relating to global information systems. He has authored monographs and presented papers relating to that research, as well as in the fields of industrial engineering, auditing in a computer environment, and business communication. He is a consultant, and conducts seminars, in these areas to a broad range of organizations. He is a member of the Executive Board of the World Association for Case Method Research & Application. His professional activities have included President of the Conference of Deans of Schools of Business in Jesuit Institutions; Trustee, Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee, and member of the Executive Committee of the Center for Financial Studies; Governing Member, Secretary-Treasurer, and member of the Executive Committee of The Committed on Developing American Capitalism; Trustee of the Connecticut Joint Council for Economic Education; and Vice President of the Board of Education of the Village of Bronxville, New York. His professional memberships include the Academy of International Business, International Information Management Association, Society for Information Management, Institute of Industrial Engineers, National and New York State Societies of Professional Engineers, American Accounting Association, and Institute of Management Accountants. He also is an active member of the Amateur Comedy Club. Founded in 1884, it is the oldest continuously performing theatrical group in America, presenting three stage productions each theatrical season. A native of Seattle, Washington, Dr. Martin received an A.B. degree from Whitman College, a M.B.A. (with high honors) from City College of New York, and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He is a Licensed/Registered Professional Engineer, holds the professional Certificate in Data Processing, is both a Certified Systems Professional and Certified Computer Professional, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi and Mu Gamma Tau honor societies. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in American Education. His awards include the City of Seattle's "Certificate of Service," the American Management Association's "Certificate of Appreciation," the Association for Systems Management's "Merit" and "Achievement" Awards, and the Dictionary of International Biography Certificates of Merit for "Distinguished Service to the Management Sciences and ...to the Information Systems Profession. He was selected an "Outstanding Young Man of America," one of three hundred "Outstanding Alumni of Whitman College," and four times as one of "Two Thousand Men of Achievement" in America. |
