About 50 minutes from Zurich (by car or rail), Lucerne has the easy access to a metropolis, but enjoys a 'world of its own' in a spectacular setting.

The majestic Gate to the South is formed by the two mountain giants of Rigi and Pilatus and the panoramic array of the snow-capped Alps. Lucerne's central location in the heart of Switzerland makes it the natural starting point for many half-day or full-day trips by boat, rail or car. The mountains and lakes are irresistible and excellent down-hill as well as cross-country skiing is close by. Engelberg can be reached by car and rail in 60 minutes (from Zurich airport you reach Engelberg in 2 hours by train and 1 ½ hours by car.
