Director of the Indian Institute of Management

Dr. Krishna Kumar is Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozikode (IIMK), the sixth and the youngest IIM established by the government of India in 1996.  An Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, Dr. Kumar is also a Fellow (Ph.D.) in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has about 30 years experience, 15 years in industry and 15 years in academics.

Joining IIM, Lucknow in the formative years, he has been member of IIML's Board of Governors, Chairman Postgraduate Programme, Chairman, Business Policy and Finance Group, Chairman Placement and member of several important committees of the institute.

Dr. Kumar has been a Visiting Fellow at ESADE, Barcelona under Euro_India Cooperation and Exchange Programmem, and has played an important role in creating international linkages of IIML. He has also been a member of Senate of IIT Kanpur; AICTE/ AIU expert panels; Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Finance; Editorial Advisory Board of World Association of Case Method Research & Application Boston and an Additional Director of Scooters India Ltd. Board. He is a founder member and presently Secretary of Strategic Management Forum.

Dr. Kumar has been extensively involved in teaching, training, research, and consulting for the past 20 years. He has written over 50 case studies and papers and published 3 books, Organization and Ownership, (1982) McMillan India Ltd., Cases in Strategic Management (1996) Global Business Press and Case Analysis and Instructors' Guide (1997), Suri Educational System. Another book, Managing Change and Transformation is under publication. He has done consulting for several organizations like NABARD, Hindustan Latex, UP Sugar Corporation & Federations, etc.
