16. June 1928 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Graduated economist, M.Sc.Oec., SM
(M.I.T. Sloan Fellow, '68), Ph.D. He has studied management also at the UMIST
Manchester.
From 1954 and still now part time teacher in the School of Economics (Ekonomska fakulteta) Ljubljana. From 1962 till 1969 part time teacher in the School for Organization of Work in Kranj. From 1969 Full Professor in the School of Business and Economics (Poslovno-ekonomska fakulteta) Maribor, after 1990 on part time basis. In 1996 he has joined on part time basis to the College of Management in Koper. From 1964 teaching occasionally graduate courses in the Schools of Economics in Subotica, Rijeka, Zagreb and Sarajevo (on the territories of ex-Yugoslavia). In Sarajevo from 1972 till 1982 as bearer of the graduate course in business policy. Retired in 1990. In the year 1991 he was awarded the title "Professor Emeritus" at the University of Maribor that gives him the right to continue his research work and to participate occasionally in the educational work. Teaching areas: industrial accounting, cost accounting, business cybernetics, business finance, organizational resp. enterprise policy (and some other fields of management, like fundamentals of management, decision-making), specifically also proactive and interactive teaching-learning methods. His practical experience in business was 23 years (1946-1969) in corporation ISKRA Kranj, Slovenia (that time growing from 800 to 18.000 employed). Positions held: chief of departments (financial and price planning, cost accounting), director (finance), vice president (finance, organization and cadres). He has got reputation of the top professional expert already that time. He has also the license of expert for governance and management from the Union of Economists of Slovenia. Professor Kralj's achievements are in the fields of accounting, business finance and financial management, organizational policy and management, business cybernetics and systems theory, informatics and interactive teaching-learning methods. His special contribution is in co-creation of the modern concepts of business cybernetics (feedforward information), interest theory of organizational politics/policy including the auditing method (over 2500 audits made), innovations in the teaching/learning methods (live case, creative entrepreneurial case method, realistic business games). Bibliography includes over 750 items, also over 60 international papers. He has acted as speaker, chair, designer and organiser in over 150 symposia, conferences, etc. He is author of nine books on organizational policy, management, decision making, finance and data processing (early informatics) and co-author of over ten other books in the fields of business finance, organisation, economics, enterprise policy and publications about business games. He was for 25 years member of EFMD - European Foundation for Management Development, Brussels; and is still member of WACRA® - World Association for Case Method Research & Case Method Application, Needham-Boston (Member of the Advisory Board); UMIST Association, Manchester, UK and MIT Sloan Alumni, Cambridge, Mass., USA; Slovenian Systems Research, Maribor (Charter Member), honorary member of the Union of Slovenian Accountants, Financers and Auditors (also Charter Member), etc. He holds some recognitions and honors like University of Maribor Silver and Golden plaque, two WACRA® recognitions for contribution and innovations in management education, also a state decoration "Order of Labour with the Golden Wreath," some medals and plaques of professional associations, etc. |
