Taïeb Hafsi is a Full Professor of Strategic Management at Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales of Montreal. In his research he focuses mostly on issues related to managing complex organizations, such as large diversified firms, geographically dispersed organizations, not-for-profit organizations, state-owned firms and governments.

In the last ten years, he conducted important research programs on divestment in public and private sectors, on organizational responses to globalization of markets, on strategic change and on issues of competitiveness and national strategies. These topics are still on his desk.

He has written numerous articles in several academic or professional journals, in particular: Administrative science quarterly, Academy of management review, Journal of management studies, Interfaces, La Revue française de gestion, Gestion, Harvard l'Expansion, Politiques et management publics. He has also authored or co-authored twenty four books or monographs.

He is a member of CETAI and Managing editor of publications for this Research Center. He is also the editor of a new trilingual academic journal: International management. He is a member of Administra-tive science association of Canada (ASAC), a founding member of the Strategic management society (SMS), and a member of the advisory board of the World association of case research and application (WACRA). He collaborates, as a reviewer, to many journals. He also seats on the board of several small firms.

Prior to Academia, M. Hafsi has been a chemical engineer. His last position was as a Director general of the refining and petrochemicals division in a large oil companY. He had responsibily for 4 refineries, 3 petrochemical complexes and a large number of plastic transformation plants, over 5,000 employees in total. He was a Professor of Policy at the faculty of management of McGill university, and at the Ecole supérieure des siences économiques et commerciales, Paris, before joining HEC in 1984.

In addition to a master's of science degree in chemical engineering, M. Hafsi holds a Master's of Science degree in management, from the Sloan school of management, at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, Boston, and a Doctorate in Business Administration, from the Harvard Business School.
