Professional conference and seminar attendance and participation are common activities among educators; however, not all professional sessions are multidimensional and multi-valuable to the long-time or neophyte educator. Without a doubt, WACRA and ACT conferences are. Besides the usual knowledge-based presentations and workshops, a special benefit of the WACRA and ACT conferences is definitely collegial networking. While international personal friendships blossom, so do professional collaborative publications. At an ACT Conference in Lucerne several years ago, Dr. Patricia Ann Brock and Dr. Beate Baltes discovered they shared a similar research interest: educational technology for teachers. This month they published a new interactive 280-page textbook entitled: Multimedia: Bridging Standards and Constructivism in the Classroom [2002] with Houghton Mifflin, Boston, MA [ISBN: 06-618-22583-8].

Deborah O’Reiley, tenured at National—Louis University, conducted a collaborative presentation and workshop on Transformation Through Insight Dialogue at the University of Toronto OISE. This participative workshop focused on communal and emergent learning through mindfulness of underlying individual and group thought processes. This is an interchange that develops new habits of communicating through revealing underlying assumptions and judgments.
